Gentle and wild, Ha Vay is here to sweep you into an adventure. The singer grew up in the redwood forests and misty beaches of the northern San Francisco Bay Area, raised in a diverse family of storytellers who immersed her in eccentric chronicles of California in the 1970s, and harrowing tales of surviving the Japanese invasion and communist revolution in China. This upbringing formed her adventurous spirit, prompting her to move across the world at 18 and travel alone, volunteering across 4 continents before diving into her music career. Ha Vay strives to make timeless music rooted in the art of storytelling, weaving familiar allegories from fairy tales, folklore and classic literature into her personal experiences as she tries to understand the world and her place in it.
In just under two years, she’s built a dedicated following as an unsigned artist. Inspired by iconic women at the intersection of pop and rock, like Stevie Nicks, Florence + The Machine, and Lana Del Rey, Ha Vay has crafted an ethereal indie pop sound with its roots in 60s/70s rock. Through TikTok and Instagram she’s established an audience of fans with her unusual world-building recipe of ethereal imagery mixed with relatable anecdotes that feel like online diary entries.
On June 21st 2024, Ha Vay released her debut album, ‘Baby I’m The Wolf’ along with a 45-minute self-directed film that encapsulates the cyclical journey of womanhood. Complete with 10 songs and 10 individual music videos, the project ties together a story that Ha Vay effortlessly weaves together through engaging visuals and songs that have amassed millions of streams. She also secured a vinyl exclusive with Urban Outfitters, becoming one of the smallest artists the major company has taken on, and sold out every unit on their site within a week. With recent features on Pigeons & Planes, The Needle Drop and Ones To Watch, Ha Vay has quickly become an act synonymous with ethereal indie music.
This October, Ha Vay will join Sarah Kinsley as support for her tour where she will showcase stripped versions of her catalog as well as a taste of the new music that is in progress for her next project set to release in 2025.
