Kirk Franklin wants everyone to know one thing. He’s never going to stop pushing the envelope.
“I still have people that want what I do to fit within the realm of what they define as Christian,” says Franklin. “Moving past all the ideology and religious rhetoric that sometimes exists within the community I come from, the message of love that everybody is saying the world needs now can’t come without including the One that created love. Why don’t we simply consider not seeing Him through the lens of dogma per se but to see love as the truth that can stand the test of time? That’s my offering.”
Franklin’s latest musical offering—and 13th studio album—is the aptly titled LONG LIVE LOVE from his RCA-distributed label, Fo Yo Soul Recordings. But even before the album’s May 31st release date, its first single is already laying down some serious groundwork.
“Love Theory” bowed at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart and has kept the position on lock for nine weeks. The vibrant track marked the singer’s record-extending seventh No. 1 and his second start atop the chart. With 1 million U.S. streams in its first week per Nielsen Music, “Love Theory” also opened at No. 1 on Gospel Streaming Songs as well as Gospel Digital Song Sales. Its colorful and energetic video has accumulated over 2.5 million YouTube views and counting.
From singing in the church, to her rise competing on NBC’s The Voice, to having a number one gospel single, Koryn Hawthorne appears unstoppable. Not surprisingly, Unstoppable is the title of her first full-length album, to be released July 13, 2018, on RCA Inspiration. Singing professionally is all the twenty-year-old has ever wanted to do. But her journey to this point didn’t happen overnight.
Like most youth, Koryn grew up singing in church. For her, that church was her family’s Lighthouse for Jesus ministry in Abbeville, Louisiana. Unlike most youth, however, her first public appearance took place on a talent showcase in Las Vegas, where she won top honors in her category. From that point on, her parents began looking for other ways to build their daughter’s music resume.
Chicago native Travele Judon has always had a love for the art of performing. As a child, Travele participated in theater, concert and marching band, as well as tap dance. With the idea of becoming an over the top entertainer, in 2007 Travele’s love for God and family entertainment led him to become a clean comedian.
Travele’s clean comedy career has taken off with performances all over the U.S. His first tour, The Vision, The Venture, and The Victory Tour, kicked off in Memphis, TN and would go through 22 cities ending in Travele’s home town of Chicago, IL. Travele also toured on the Saved and Lovin’ It Tour, opening for Mary Mary, Tye Tribett, Vickie Winans, and R&B singer Jeremih.
In 2016, Travele starred in a pilot, The Travele Show, a sitcom about a popular standup comedian juggling the perfect family life and the mainstream comedy industry.
Most recently, he can be seen on Food Networks hit series, Worst Cooks in America, premiering this January.
