Tei Shi
Tei Shi (pronounced “tay-shee”) is the moniker of singer-songwriter & producer Valerie Teicher.
Growing up between Bogotá, Colombia, & Vancouver, Canada, Tei Shi is heavily influenced by her ever-changing environment & cross-cultural identity.
Since her first two EPs, “Saudade” (2013) & “Verde” (2015), “introduced her to the world as a skilled & fluid vocalist… [Tei Shi] has fully stepped into her own, brewing up confections centered on trusting your own intuition,” (Pitchfork). Her groundbreaking song “Bassically” garnered over 21 million streams on Spotify alone & set the scene for her critically acclaimed debut album “Crawl Space” (2017) – leading her to embark on world tours & make headway in the art & fashion world.
She wrote & was featured on Blood Orange’s ‘Hope’ off his album ‘Negro Swan’ & starred in its music video alongside Tyler the Creator & A$AP Rocky, also performing the song onstage at 2019’s Coachella Music Festival. In November of 2019, Tei Shi released “La Linda,” her much- anticipated second full-length album. Emotionally evocative & sonically daring, “the 11-track project sees Tei Shi more self-assured & fully formed than ever” (i-D). On this album, Tei Shi further embraces her Latin roots & multicultural identity, seamlessly shifting between the languages & musical genres thatmake her such a unique songwriter & noteworthy artist.
In March 2020, after breaking out of a toxic label dynamic, she embarked on a North American tour supporting Blood Orange, which was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. Shortly after, she released her EP “Die 4 Ur Love.” Her 2023 EP “BAD PREMONITION” came out in March 2023 & expanded into her critically acclaimed third LP “VALERIE”. Self-released in April 2024, “VALERIE” marks the beginning of a new chapter for Tei Shi as a fully independent artist. In May, she completed a two week headline tour hitting major cities across the US and Canada which was followed by a handful of UK / EU dates supporting Allie X on her “Girl with No Face” tour.
Salt Cathedral
Salt Cathedral are the genre-defying NYC based duo of Juliana Ronderos and Nicolas Losada. Hailing from Bogota, Colombia, they are celebrated for their ability to fuse elements from the vanguard of electronic music, a scope of global rhythms, and Caribbean dance culture to create an inimitable pop sound that is as accessible as it is adventurous.
The two friends met in music school and began releasing songs pushing against the pillars of alternative music. Amongst their releases are 3 EPs, multiple singles and a debut full-length album “CARISMA” released in May 2020. Their multicultural approach has resulted in diverse collaborations with artists such as New Orleans bounce pioneer Big Freedia (featured in Beyonce’s ‘’Formation’’), Brazil’s MC Bin Laden, and legendary dub producer Lee “Scratch” Perry.
2024 sees Salt Cathedral releasing their second studio album, Before It’s Gone. The album self reflects on time and the anxieties of living in a hyperconnected world that is both beautiful and in danger. With themes such as the fears of climate change, complacency, cellphone addiction and trust, they weave a sonic world that feels both prescient and hopeful.
