Linus Hablot
Linus Hablot’s solo project has taken the scenic route. For the better part of the last three years, he’s holed up in a home studio on Los Angeles’ East Side with his cat Sephora and 90 pound dog Rosie, writing on guitar and piano and shaping vulnerable lyrics into infectious melodies. It’s a quiet turn after six years in a band, but the return to his roots as a solo artist feels like coming home. This time he’s building the songs out with a small circle of hand-picked collaborators he trusts to bring them to life.
Born in Japan and raised in Singapore to Canadian and American parents, Linus grew up between cultures. His curiosity about the world and his sense of wandering and a search for belonging drive his songwriting. His music is warm and patient, unpretentious and universal, speaking to anyone figuring themselves out. Even at his most earnest, Linus doesn’t take himself too seriously, his sense of humor is never far away, a sparkle in the eye that peaks through just as the emotion is getting heavy.
Returning to the stage, Linus carries himself with a charisma and confidence that tells the room there’s nowhere he’d rather be. Whether playing by himself on guitar and piano, or with a full band, there’s a real sense of emotional connection to his music that’s obvious to anyone in the audience.
