The GRAMMY® nominated fourth generation musician from Greenville, SC, started playing guitar at 8-years-old following in the footsteps of his guitarist Father and Grandpa. Logging thousands of miles on the road as “The Marcus King Band,” he established himself with unparalleled performance prowess. During 2020, he linked up with Dan Auerbach and cut his solo debut El Dorado, garnering a GRAMMY® Award nomination for “Best Americana Album.” Between headlining venues, he performed alongside Chris Stapleton, Greta Van Fleet, and Nathanial Rateliff in addition to gracing the bills of Stagecoach and more. He has launched various mental health initiatives, including a guitar auction collaboration with MusiCares. Now, his 2024 album Mood Swings feels like the moment of baptism when water washes away a life’s worth of sins and degradation and all that’s left is a revived, yet still real-as-hell primal scream. It’s as if King strained raw soul straight from his gut up through that broken heart and on to the record under the watchful eye of Rick Rubin. Emphasizing his vocals front-and-center more than ever before, the trusty guitar he’s so often associated with plays the sideman this time around (though there’s no shortage of impressive shredding). Angel White is a fifth-generation Texas cowboy, beekeeper and singer/songwriter who artfully blends elements of folk, country, soul, and rock to create a sound that’s uniquely his, reflecting the vast landscapes of his upbringing and the untamed spirit of the West.

His debut full length release, GHOST OF THE WEST: THE ALBUM, takes listeners on a journey through soulful melodies, captivating narratives, and introspective lyrics inspired by the wide-open spaces of his hometown of Cleburne, TX, where his roots run deep with a family lineage of cowboys and century-old tradition of raising horses.

White discovered the power of his own voice after he spent years busking in Deep Ellum, Texas, which inspired him to craft a narrative through his songwriting. Throughout the album, White pays homage to the sidelined narratives of the Mexican, Black, and Native cowboys, historical figures often unjustly erased from both the annals of history and mainstream pop culture depiction of the American West, serving to honor not only his own journey, but also the countless individuals who came before him.

To date, Angel White has toured with Shane Smith and the Saints, Whiskey Myers, Midland, Kaitlin Butts, Paul Cauthen, Shakey Graves, and Josh Abbott Band and has played major festivals like ACL, Stagecoach, FORMAT, Luck Reunion, Bonnaroo, CMA Fest and SXSW.
