To coincide with the relighting of the iconic Castro Theatre marquee, Frameline, the nonprofit that hosts the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival, will celebrate its 48th edition (Frameline48) with the first-ever Castro neighborhood celebration of Juneteenth. A free outdoor event, the Juneteenth Block Party will unfold just outside the historic Castro Theatre, and feature an evening of music, drag performances from Reparations curated by winner of the Drag Queen of the Year Pageant, Nicki Jizz, as well as a screening of Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero.

By celebrating the intersection of Blackness and queerness, Frameline48 reaffirms its commitment to bringing visibility, joy, and essential stories to the communities it centers. The all-ages event is free and open to the public. Joined by event sponsors, including Another Planet Entertainment, and community partners, Frameline48 invites everyone to bring a lawn chair and join the festivities. Headlined by D’Arcy Drollinger of Oasis Arts, San Francisco’s Drag Laureate, the evening will be filled with live performances, music, and film. Frameline48’s first-ever Juneteenth Block Party will feature dynamic drag performances from Reparations, including Drag Queen of the Year Pageant winner Nicki Jizz, Afrika America, and Mudd the Two Spirit; live music by the San Francisco Pride Band and DJ Die Wies; and a special screening of Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero shown on big screens outside the Castro Theatre. Following the live pre-show, the film screening will begin at 8:20pm
