At the heart of that connection lies a deeply personal story, one that defines ILLENIUM’s music as much as his message. After surviving a near-fatal heroin overdose in 2012, he embraced the phoenix as a symbol of rebirth—a reflection of his recovery and the healing power of music. The logo has since become a visual and spiritual emblem for both ILLENIUM and his fans, representing transformation, resilience, and the strength found in vulnerability.

“Music has always saved me and helped me through any situation in life, whether it be struggle, loss, or another intense feeling,” he says. “I want my music to do the same for anybody who’s listening. I’m trying to give everyone an outlet to lose themselves and escape.”

Born Nick Miller and based in Denver, ILLENIUM initially introduced himself back in 2013 with a series of momentum-building releases before breaking through with 2016’s “Ashes.” Fueled by a boundary-breaking sound, he has notched three consecutive #1 debuts on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart, beginning with the Gold-certified Ascend [2019], Fallen Embers [2021], and ILLENIUM [2023]. Along the way, he delivered a string of smashes, including the 2x-Platinum “Good Things Fall Apart” [feat. Jon Bellion], Platinum “Feel Good” [feat. Daya] with Gryffin, Gold-certified “In Your Arms” with X Ambassadors and “Crashing” [feat Bahari]. Fallen Embers received a GRAMMY® nomination in the category of “Best Dance/Electronic Music Album” and took home “Top Dance/Electronic Music Album” at the Billboard Music Awards.  Known for pushing creative boundaries, ILLENIUM has collaborated across genres with artists like Teddy Swims, Spiritbox, JVKE, iann dior, Avril Lavigne, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker.

Beyond igniting the stage at festivals such as Coachella and Lollapalooza, he’s made history with his “Trilogy” stadium concert series. In 2021, he became “the first electronic dance music artist to headline a football stadium” (cultr.com) when he took over Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Two years later, he led “the largest non-festival dance music concert in North America ever” (EDM.com) at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. And again in 2024, which saw him pack two nights at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Now signed with Republic Records and working out of Los Angeles, he continues to write and record. Taking a holistic approach, he states, “The atmosphere of the whole song is important.” This time around, his forthcoming album channels a different energy, drawing inspiration from 2010s icons like Avicii and Calvin Harris.

“I always want the caliber of songs to be a step up,” he says. “I’m working towards a larger sound. It’s big and anthemic, but it’s also dark and emotional. I’m incorporating sounds I love into different genres. It’s fun to make everything even more immersive.”

He introduced listeners into this era by way of the single “In My Arms” with HAYLA. Billboard marveled at how “the song builds to a kaleidoscopic drop while pulling hard on all the emotional heartstrings,” and EDM.com raved, “The track’s first few moments flicker with a quiet tension before opening up into the kind of wide-eyed, emotive drop that fans have come to associate with ILLENIUM’s most impactful work.”

“It’s such an anthem,” he says. “It builds into such an epic and communal feeling. For me, it’s a ‘scream your lungs out’ song. HAYLA is a legend too.”

In the end, ILLENIUM’s world is where emotion meets euphoria and where music leads to escape.

“It has been so powerful to create such amazing memories with so many people,” he reflects. “This was something I never dreamed I’d be able to accomplish. With this next phase, I just want to keep trying to create an experience that’s unlike anything else.”
