What began several years ago as of an abortive attempt to purge late-adolescent heartbreak with vodka, smoked fish, and about 12,000km of railroad somehow picked up steam, took on a life of its own, became a band, and then churned its way through many thousands more miles of highway. If Balto’s 2011’s LP October’s Road was an empathetic goodbye to a chapter of youth, 2019’s forthcoming LP “It’s Not Supposed to Be This Hard,” is another bookend – for a band that spent the better part of 8 years burning through the sweatiest dive-bars and clubs of three continents. The record is a testament to the love of process, to the long nights, hard breaks, and unexpected joys of making rock and roll with dear friends.
