Greek Theatre | Venue Information

Built in 1903, the William Randolph Hearst Greek Theatre is located on the UC Berkeley Campus in the foothills with spectacular views of The Golden Gate and Bay Bridge, Mount Tamalpais, San Francisco and The Campanile. Throughout its 100+ year history, it has hosted a variety of entertainment and famous personalities including Theodore Roosevelt, Sarah Bernhard, Luciano Pavarotti, and the 14th Dalai Lama to name a few. Popular music artists performing at the venue include Bob Dylan, Talking Heads, Grateful Dead, Phish, Elvis Costello, John Legend, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Genesis, R.E.M., Pearl Jam, Joan Baez, Placido Domingo, Mumford & Sons, James Taylor, Adele and Dave Matthews Band. For many artists, the Greek Theatre is their favorite place to perform. Many artists and fans have stated that the Greek in Berkeley is one of those venues you wish were in every city! The Greek Theatre is one of those extraordinary venues that make any event or concert a truly remarkable experience for both the artist and the audience — one not to be missed!

General Information

Located at 2001 Gayley Road in Berkeley, The Greek Theatre at UC Berkeley is a very intimate, outdoor venue. Events are scheduled April through October. All shows are all-weather events, and will go on rain or shine.

Ticket Info

All tickets for the Greek Theatre at UC Berkeley may be purchased in advance online through www.apeconcerts.com or www.Ticketmaster.com. They can also be purchased service charge free at the Fox Theater Oakland box office on show days and Fridays from 12-7pm. The Greek Theatre Box office located on the north side of the Greek Theatre, is open on the day/night of performances only. Ticket sales and will call pickup are available 1.5 hours prior to showtime.


ADA Seating

Accessible Seating is available for all shows at the Greek. To purchase wheelchair accessible seating, click the “request accessible tickets” link on the Ticketmaster event page. There is a curbside drop-off area on Gayley Road just north of the Greek Theatre entrance for passengers with mobility disabilities who prefer to minimize the travel distance to the venue. Greening at the Greek

The Greek Theatre is proud to have been the first ever outdoor amphitheater in the country to go completely green. We purchase renewable wind energy credits to entirely offset our carbon footprint each season. We provide:

  • Recycled paper and soy based ink for all printed materials
  • Recycled content toilet paper and paper towels
  • Biodegradable plates, cups, utensils and napkins
  • Recycling/Composting stations

Please help us decrease our environmental impact by throwing your items away in the correct bins located throughout the venue.
