RL Grime first came to prominence as a New York-based teenager delivering monster, viral remixes of Chief Keef’s “Love Sosa” and Kanye West’s “Mercy.” He established himself as a unique artist in his space with a striking monochromatic aesthetic, a series of animated music videos, and a annual Halloween mix that has gone on to feature legendary cameos from celebrities including Neil deGrasse Tyson, Shaquille O’Neal, Tony Hawk, Guy Fieri, Bruce Buffer, and more. After solidifying his fanbase with a few highly-regarded EPs, RL Grime independently released his first studio album, VOID, in 2014. It premiered as the #1 Electronic album in the United States and remained in that position for a month. At that point—with over 150 million plays, rave reviews and magazine covers, and sets at the biggest festivals in the world including Coachella & Lollapalooza—most artists would settle for their success. RL Grime stuck to his underground roots and further limited his releases. He collaborated with artists including Big Sean, Miguel, and Skrillex, and starred in Alexander Wang’s #WANGSQUAD alongside Travis Scott & Zoe Kravitz. In late 2017, he emerged with “Era,” a tour-de-force single whose epic, cinematic sound announced a new era and his sophomore album: NOVA. RL Grime has distinguished himself as an innovator in music, delicately treading the line between mainstream and an independent sound, the underground and the accessible, popular music and artistry. In 2019, he went on to establish his own record label called Sable Valley, serving as a platform to highlight emerging talent that he believes in and allowing up-and-coming artists to share their artistic voice with the world on their terms.
Hawaii’s Christian Mochizuki, aka graves, is a DJ and electronic producer known for his sophisticated, hip hop influenced progressive style. A native of Honolulu, Mochizuki first came to prominence after working as an engineer on Kanye West’s Grammy Award winning 2010 album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Also during this period, he earned credits on albums by Kid Cudi, Justin Beiber, Big Sean, and others.
After parting ways with West in 2013, he began making music with a short lived EDM outfit before adopting the name graves in 2015. Mochizuki started releasing his music online and quickly garnered a fan base for his kinetic, atmospheric, and often experimental sound.
His 2017 debut EP Hilo reached #1 on iTunes electronic charts and features collaborations with Boombox Cartel, Lil Traffic, and bbno$.
It takes an equal part talent, finesse, sass, and balls for a woman to get the right kind of attention in the ever-competitive industry of young DJs and producers… Kittens has just that. With her vast knowledge of music and past as a dancer, Kittens (born Lauren Abedini) has been able to find a balance between low grinding electronic beats, heavy rap, and future beat music which has earned the support of some of the most influential artists of our time; including longtime mentor, Usher, Kid Cudi (whom she supported on his 2013 tour), Skrillex, Gaslamp Killer, Salva, and A-Trak, who has her signed to his record label Fool’s Gold and championed her in every facet of her career.
Mixmag and The Hundreds have named her as a “Rising Producer/DJ Shaping the LA Club Scene.” She has made countless “Top Female DJ” lists and Source Magazine’s “25 Women To Watch” as well as being mentioned as one of Los Angeles’ major players by Thump. Her aggressive style of DJing, made through quick cuts inspired by her foundation as a hip hop DJ and harder track selections often leave people pleasantly shocked to find she is not as soft and fluffy as her name might suggest.
Kittens is also member of LA collective Athletixx, along with Hoodboi, Falcons, and Promnite, who are pioneering the sound and have coined the term “LA Club” with their eclectic but heavy hitting alternative club music.
When she’s not out DJing or working on music, you can bet Kittens is either building her cat army, napping, eating Oreos, or teaching one of her Girls Only DJ workshops.
