Frameline48
To coincide with the relighting of the iconic Castro Theatre marquee, Frameline, the nonprofit that hosts the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival, will celebrate its 48th edition (Frameline48) with the first-ever Castro neighborhood celebration of Juneteenth. A free outdoor event, the Juneteenth Block Party will unfold just outside the historic Castro Theatre, and feature an evening of music, drag performances from Reparations curated by winner of the Drag Queen of the Year Pageant, Nicki Jizz, as well as a screening of Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero.
By celebrating the intersection of Blackness and queerness, Frameline48 reaffirms its commitment to bringing visibility, joy, and essential stories to the communities it centers. The all-ages event is free and open to the public. Joined by event sponsors, including Another Planet Entertainment, and community partners, Frameline48 invites everyone to bring a lawn chair and join the festivities. The first event of Frameline48, the Juneteenth Block Party kicks off the festival, which will run June 19–19. For more information, visit frameline.org.
