Tobe Nwigwe
Tobe Nwigwe is an enigma. The lyrics and tone of his music tell the story of a difficult upbringing as a first-generation Nigerian kid in the Alief neighborhood of Houston, TX. Tobe has a singular goal in life: “to make purpose popular” and he is already well on his way to doing so.
His music has garnered a lot of attention, including First Lady Michelle Obama, who put his song “I’m Dope” on her workout playlist.
Tobe holds a best-of performance for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series which quickly garnered him millions of views and wide acclaim.
During the pandemic, Tobe went viral on digital platforms for his songs “I Need You To (Breonna Taylor Tribute)” and “Try Jesus.” “Try Jesus” reached No. 4 on the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart.
Tobe highlighted the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards with a top performance of the night with his breakout song “Fye Fye.”
Closing out 2021, fellow hometown icon Beyoncé featured Tobe prominently on billboards, commercials, and in-store placements nationally for her Adidas x IVY PARK Rodeo collection campaign.
2022 has shown no signs of slowing down for Tobe. He performed sets at Pharrell’s Something In The Water Festival, Bonnaroo Music Festival, and is slated to perform at Austin City Limits in October as well as his first European Tour to end the year.
Tobe just released his highly awaited EP, moMINTs, with guest features by Pharrell, 2 Chainz, Chamillionaire, CeeLo Green, Royce da 5’9, Coast Contra and NBA superstar Damian Lillard (as Dame D.O.L.L.A.).
In 2023, Tobe will make his silver screen debut joining the cast of the beloved saga, “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts”.
