We are pleased to announce the birth of our new non profit project – Be Interactive! This will combine charity initiatives, community-enrichment programs, and all sorts of creative campaigns designed to promote engagement, inspire activism, and encourage people to get involved with their communities, and give back to the people around them. We will of course continue to donate one dollar per ticket to each and any Bassnectar event, but we are now launching this entirely independent arm of the team: dedicated and devoted to the service of others.
Today we are announcing the first fundraiser event for Be Interactive in San Francisco on Saturday, September 29th.
Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, Dead Prez, Ninth Child, Zion i, Ashel SeaSunz, and Xiutezcatl Martinez are all gathering to throw down in support of this consciousness-raising cause: with a special focus on the upcoming elections and how to promote voter fairness and justice. 100% of proceeds go to charity, and we are aiming to raise $100,000 for Be Interactive campaigns & initiatives.
With hard-hitting beats, politically aware rhymes, deft lyricism and strong song concepts, dead prez emerged in 2000 as one of rap’s most politically strident outfits. Stic.man and M-1’s music provided a voice for the voiceless, a sobering look at the global power structure that was crippling billions of people internationally and millions of Americans domestically. The duo’s first two studio albums, 2000’s Lets Get Free and 2004’s RBG: Revolutionary But Gangsta, were accompanied by four acclaimed Turn Off The Radio mixtapes and solo albums.
NINTH CHILD is the paradoxical production alias of Los Angeles based performing artist, Natalia Benson. Pulling from the etheric as well as her love of underground bass – NINTH CHILD is as much a visual project as it is a musical one making her self produced visual content and music videos a keystone of her self expression via NC.
NINTH CHILD has played Coachella for the Do Lab, Lightning in a Bottle Festival, Bassnectar’s Basslantic City, Control Avalon (LA), the iconic El Rey Theatre and headlined Incendia Fire in the Sky Festival in Atlanta, GA.
In 2017, NINTH CHILD coined her uniquely synergized DJ Sets THE IX SHOW- fusing an emotive playing style, original productions, live vocals and an all original cinematic visual show.
She has received accolades from Earmilk, YourEDM.com, Beautiful Buzzz, The DJ List, NestHQ, FuseTV, The Daily Beat, SensibleReason.com & Electrify Magazine (NY) and has received artist support from the likes of Bassnectar, Alison Wonderland, The Glitch Mob, TastyTreat, Madeaux, Hex Cougar, Dimond Saints, SteLouse, Vaski, Strange Club and the DoLab.
With more than two-dozen albums, mixtapes, EP’s and vibrant collaborations, the Oakland based MC/Producer Zion I (a.k.a. Zumbi) is in the top echelon, as far as conscious party-rocking hip-hop. After years of collaboration with producer Amp Live and DJ K-Genius and other notables, the Oakland-based rapper/ songwriter has evolved as an independent touring artist.
His progressive stay-true-to-the-core lyricism is uniquely embraced across all genres of music and his collaborations, with some of the greatest in the industry, is an evolutionary norm for Zion I. From the reggae-rock giants Rebelution, to hip-hop nostalgia Too Short, along with Devin The Dude and The Roots MC, Black Thought, to EDM DJ extraordinaire, Bassnectar, heavy hitting rockers Linkin Park and alternative rock/reggae-rapper Matisyahu, Zion I continues’ to impress with soulful goods.
As an MC, Zion I emulates the purest form of hip-hop, bringing forth a socially conscious lyrical deliverance and high energy party-rockin’ live show that captivates his audience, making him a festival fan-favorite from coast to coast. The international touring artist has performed at some of the most reputable music festivals across the globe. Some of the more notable festivals include: Coachella, Rock the Bells, Treasure Island Music Fest, Lightning In A Bottle, Outside Lands, California Roots Music and Arts Festival, Hangout Music Festival, Splash Fest (Germany), HipHop Kemp (Czech Republic), Rifflandia (British Columbia), Sonic Bloom, Paid Dues, Snow Globe and most recently the urban lifestyle music and arts festival, Bay Area Vibez with Bassnectar, Nas and Damian Marley. Zion I toured the summer 2016 with Slightly Stoopid, SOJA, The Grouch and Eligh on The Return Of The Redeye tour.
